Bridgedale Socks and Snowmobiles

One of the few motor sports that likely to require you to wear socks of the quality that Bridgedale socks can offer. There are of course other motor sports that take place on snow and ice, like winter rallying and ice speedway, but the riders of snowmobiles will frequently have to place their feet in deep snow. In competition, snowmobile riding can take several forms.

One of the most spectacular has got to be freestyle riding. Similar to their freestyle motocross buddies, the riders of snow mobile perform jumps and tricks with their machine. This can involve thing like hanging off the machine, or indeed, letting go of the handlebars completely, whilst high in the air.

Closely related to motocross is snow-cross Like motocross the machines are highly tuned and capable of reaching sixty miles per hour around custom made tracks. Like motocross tracks, these consist of slow tight corners, faster corners where the rider will use a berm or banking to help turn the machine, straight runs over undulations called whoops and steep slopes that send the machines airborne for quite a distance.

Hill climbing seems to be a discipline that appears in all forms of transport and snowmobiles are no different. Neither is the most common result of these runs, which is for the machine to flip and make its way back down the hill, usually completing a few spectacular and machine crunching flips before finally coming to a halt. The idea behind hill climbing is simple. Get to the top of a hill that gets progressively steeper, go too slow and the machine will lose traction and come to a halt. Go too fast and the rear produces enough traction to flip the machine.

Cross country racing is similar to the motorbike equivalent, enduro. In this form of racing, the competitors race against each other across countryside. The perils they face are snow covered obstacles, trees, holes and deep drifts. Although no racers will admit to getting cold feet, these are the ones most likely to benefit from wearing Bridgedale socks the most, since they can spend a lot of their time trying to pull their machine free.

The other type of rider that would benefit from wearing Bridgedale socks is the leisure rider. These are people who take their machines out into the countryside for the day, usually several people sharing each machine. This means that the other riders will spend a considerable length of time standing around in the cold waiting for their turn to come around again. Extended periods standing in the snow leads to the heat generated by your feet will melt the snow on your boots, leaving your feet becoming damp and cold.
